June 2022 Updates

Hi Everyone,
We have been working hard on exciting new features for Donatello.
πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ We just released a major update to the dividends summary page and also started handling stock splits πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰.

Dividends Page

When we first came up with the dividend summary page we had two goals in mind:

  1. We wanted to provide our users with a clear summarized understanding of their recent and upcoming dividends so it would be easy to keep track of increases, distributions, and trends on their entire portfolio.
  2. We wanted to provide a tool for dividend growth investors which care about year over year growth, quarterly trends, and their dividend β€œsalary”.

We believe that we did a relatively decent job with providing the recent dividends summary but we were not satisfied with the second goal we had in mind.
We are happy to report that this is no longer the case.
The new dividends page now provides a crisp view of your dividend income including great insights for dividend growth investors:

As you can see on the left hand side, you now have a summary of your dividend paying assets including their YOY growth, their monthly average income and more.
You can also toggle between taking into account the purchase dates or ignoring them.
This is useful if you want to simulate your trend while observing the current snapshot vs looking at your actual history.

The main graph now presents a quarterly summary of payouts and when hovering over a bar, it provides the YoY dividend growth for that quarter.

Finally you can also break down the quarters’ chart by folder or by asset when using the β€œBreakdown” selector:

We believe that this new view provides a much crisper picture for dividend growth investors while still enabling easy tracking of distributions using the table below the chart.

As for the table below the chart, you can now look further back into the past.
The data will be sorted from most recent to least recent.

Stock Splits

With the recent AMZN split, you may have noticed that we now handle stock splits automatically for you.
When a security you own will announce a split, we will let you know of the upcoming split in your security page.
Here’s GOOG’s upcoming split notification:

Once the split takes place, Donatello will automatically adjust the updated number of shares and their revised cost basis.
Donatello will late you know about it with a notification in the main page:

As always, we love hearing back from you, please send any feedback you may have to donatelloapp@gmail.com
